character classes:
there are six classes that make
up the available professions in
ancinets.  a good balance of
magic and fighting ability
works best.

1. warriors are the first prof-
ession.  they spend their lives
training for battle and sub-
sequently can use any weapon or
wear any armor.  warriors can
cast no magical spells, however,
they can use some magical items.
2. rogues are characters who
rely on cunning and stealth as
opposed to brute force.  a
rogue, for instance, is slightly
harder to hit in combat and
is better able to defend.

3. priests are people who have
devoted their lives to the
church.  as a result, they gain
the power of the gods and can
cast many spells.  healing the
injured is their livelihood.
many priest are very good
warriors, however, they may
not use edged weapons as they
prefer to bludgeon their
enemies to death.

4. mages are intellects who
spend their life studying the
mysterious magical lore.  they
are very poor warriors as they
rely on magic and intellect to
burn, freeze, fizzle, disint-
egrate, and desmember their
enemies.
