Milk Runs (Easy) This theater of operations consists of many easy missions for the user who is not yet familiar with the game. The missions are created to show the variety of object types without the frustration of getting shot out of the sky minutes after taking off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------- Welcome to Henderson Field ------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Gimme Shelter Direction : South East Distance : 14 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The set up consists of an almost enclosed orb, with some fuel dumps and tets scattered around some haphazard walls. There's some mediocre KLA sites and AAA as active defense. Your objective is to nail the TRFRU and Fuelers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Litter Boxes Direction : North East Distance : 7 miles Difficulty : 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is perhaps your first really difficult assignment. We've got an orb holed up in a tight fortress of forcefields, perhaps untouchable. It is defended by some bumble bees and 4 toughie AAA batteries. This orb looks like a good target for the ground forces, since it may be too well protected from air attack. In this case it's the fuel and TRFRU we are after. The defenses here are strong, and it may take some fancy flying to get them all. Take your time, and stay away from the AAA in the center. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------ Welcome to Dulles International Airport ------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Devil's Aquarium Direction : West Distance : 3 miles Difficulty : 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We've got a real problem on our hands. Just west of this airfield a gathering of enemy forces has grown until the threat is too great to ignore. Since lately we have been concentrating mostly on resource targets, until now we have ignored the piecemeal concentrations to our west side. But recently the enemy defenses have grown to the point where they cannot be ignored. Enemy missiles our attacking our planes on the ground, and the AAA batteries our playing havoc with all flights to our neighboring airfields. Your mission is to take out all the AAA and KLA sites in the area. Don't hesitate to break off, and try to make it back to save your plane. You can always come back to fight another day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Demolition Derby Direction : East North East Distance : 9 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rescue operations have been hampered by the development of a group of enemy ground transport sites located to the east of here. Your mission is to finish off all vehicles and vehicle sites ( wire frame triangles on ground). They are defended by three missile launchers, so keep an eye on your six while you chase down those shopping carts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Elevator Shaft Direction : North Distance : 13 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the never ending quest for a good arrangement for passive defense, our enemies have erected an ugly challenge for our pilots. We don't know what they will eventually construct at this site, and we hope to eradicate this gathering from the map before we find out. Take out the generator orb. It is protected by force field and AAA batteries. If you don't feel like flying down the throat of the smokestack, try making high altitude dive bombing runs, and pull off before you end up flying down the shaft. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Welcome to Bubba's Airstrip ----------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Sleeping Dragons Direction : West Distance : 11 miles Difficulty : 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To the west is a fuel dump facility which needs to be taken out. Use caution when firing, some booby traps may be triggered by your fire. Two missile launchers provide active defense for this target. These appear to be better than typical KLA sites, so keep alert and don't let any deathballs sneak up on your tail. Although your mission objective is the fuel, it might be a good idea to take out the orb first, so you have a better chance of a clean shot at the dumps. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Leggo my Eggo Direction : East North East Distance : 14 miles Difficulty : 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Intelligence has determined that several of the enemies top technical military AI units have been loaded onto a saucer to the East of here. At some point we think they are abandoning this theater of operations for a more secure area. Your job is to show them just how insecure this area is for them. Blow that saucer to smithereens. We have reason to believe that they are still in the process of loading the airship, so get in there and get as many shots in as you can before it lifts off. Enemy defenses are heavier than normal. The defense of the area is based on force fields, AAA, and KLA sites. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------ Welcome to the Weedsport Airport -------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Available Missions: Mission Code Name : Canal Lock Direction : North Distance : 6 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Take out an orb which is protected by both balloons and force fields. There is some tofu there which should be taken out, but your main objective in this mission is to take out the generator orb. This is a mission where there is an obvious choice of attack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Flaming Frisbee Direction : South South East Distance : 8 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ground observers have spotted 3 saucers flying at low altitude about 8 miles west from our position. You may have run across them already if you flew here from Sweetly Bending. Your mission is to take at least one of the three out. They don't appear to be the lowest of quality, so be prepared to evade any KLA's which they may launch at you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Hot Tin Roof Direction : East Distance : 8 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The enemies are getting a little more clever about force field placement. Here it is difficult to get a shot in from the top, so you must come in at about 1000 ft. Your mission objective is to go after the ticks and tets, but here I would take out the generator station first, so that those force fields will drop. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------- Welcome to RDU ^international Airport ---------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Center of Attention Direction : South Distance : 9 mile Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Some ground based AAA has been forcing routine flights between here and Weedsport to follow an inconvenient course. If you have flown here from Weedsport, you will have seen it. This thorn in our side must be removed ASAP in order to keep our supply lines open. Your secondary target is the orb, which seems to be what the AAA is guarding. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Sleeping Dogs Direction : West North West Distance : 13 mile Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This mission could be a more than it appears. As far as we can tell, it looks like another fuel dump situated around an unprotected orb. However, you are the third pilot we've sent out against this site, so we are warning you now to be cautious, and be ready for anything. One note: Upon closer investigation, recon planes have determined that some of the fuel dumps appear to be smaller in size, and blink occasionally. They appear to be harmless, since even a low pass by the unarmed recon plane did not initiate any enemy reaction whatsoever. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : SaucerWorks Direction : North North East Distance : 8 mile Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The number of enemy bombing raids in our area has stepped up dramatically in recent weeks. The source seems to be coming from a site located 8 miles north of here. Eliminate all the saucer launch facilities there, and clean up all the airborne saucers you can find. Beware of a new kind of passive defense which looks like a cloud of bumble bees. It may look relatively harmless, but the unwary pilot may get stung. Make sure none of the saucers head our way, and keep an eye on your tail for saucer launched enemy missiles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Smoking Pursuit Direction : East North East Distance : 10 mile Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A small fledgling full storage facility has begun operation out in the eastern quadrant. These are apparently guarded by four missile sites, the quality of which varies from dumb to mediocre. Also they have placed 4 force fields in the area. We have evidence to suggest that the enemies' own missiles are not immune to the force fields. A possible technique to shake persistent deathballs might be to let them run through their own defenses. Your mission objective is to demolish all of the enemy fuel reserve tanks. You may take out the orb and KLA sites if you wish. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------- Welcome to Crickety Point Landing Strip ---------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : FireFly Direction : West South West Distance : 9 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A swarm of tets is hovering over an orb about 9 miles west of here. This is being protected by three ground based AAA sites. It might be a good idea to take out the AAA before digging into the tofu. The primary mission objective, however, is to blast those tets out of the sky. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Tearjerker Direction : North Distance : 7 miles Difficulty : 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To the north is a gathering of 4 AAA sites, and 4 KLA sites. In the center is an orb, and hung up in air are three force fields. We think the enemy is planning to construct some bomber sites, or perhaps another fuel storage facility there. Your job is to take out the AAA and dball sites now, before the defenses can be strengthened more. The force fields possibly can be used to our advantage, so the orb may not be the place to start unleashing your fury. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------ Welcome to Sweetly Bending Oak Aircraft Park -------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Available Missions: Mission Code Name : Dead Cookie Direction : North Distance : 1 mile Difficulty : 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ An enemy saucer has been sighted north of the airport. Head straight for it right after takeoff. Saucers are tough cookies, so don't be sparing with the missiles. This saucer looks like one of the dumber ones, so it should be a piece of cake. Bear in mind that even these dumb ones have been known to make bombing runs against our airfields. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Splintered Spinners Direction : West Distance : 5 miles Difficulty : 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To the west is a small gathering of virtually unprotected enemy structures. At approximately 3000 ft is a set of spinning devices thought to be used for spy purposes. Take these out, but be careful to avoid colliding with the platform beneath the devices. On the surface below is a generator orb. It is destroyable, but at this point we should leave that target for the ground forces. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Rebouncer Direction : South South East Distance : 10 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To the south is a platformed orb at about 1000 ft. Balloon defenses are it's only protection. The balloons appear to be indestructible, but they stop ordinance, and flying through them doesn't appear to be a good idea. Take your time and take aim at the orb from far away, and come in blasting with guns and missiles. Those orbs can take over 70 hits, so have some patience and be prepared to make many passes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Tofu Sandwich Direction : North North East Distance : 13 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is another spying attempt, which we hope you can eliminate without too much trouble. They've decided to protect their tets ( the official name is Tetrahedral RF receiving units, or TRFRU ) with force fields. Apparently they could not enclose the TRFRU's completely without hampering the performance of the detectors. So what they've done is make a big tofu sandwich, and your job is to eat it. If you take out the generator orb, the shields will drop, but at this point, we recommend you leave this orb for the army. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nearby airstrips with more missions ------------------------------------------------------------------------ North: Easter Island Municipal Air Travel Center East: Weedsport Airport ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- Welcome to Easter Island Municipal Air Travel Center ---------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Topsy Turvy Direction : West North West: Distance : 10 miles Difficulty : 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Another saucer has been sighted, this one may be the type to launch some defenses. It was last seen heading out west at low altitude, but climbing. They have been known to loop around and make a bombing run, but these things are pretty much unpredictable. Look for a low flying blinking dot off to the west. It may take some flying before it shows up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Spitting Turtle Direction : West South West: Distance : 8 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Intelligence reports the first sighting of fixed active defense in use by the enemy forces. There are four triple-A batteries guarding a solitary tofu. The ever-present generator orb holds up the platform. At present, those AAA sites are the biggest threat to our air superiority. Take out these sites as the top priority, then take out the tet if you desire (that is, if the enemy hasn't destroyed it with his own artillery. The orb can be destroyed if you wish, but it is not a mission objective. Remember that with AAA, the best defense is a good offense. Keep those guns blasting away, because your hail of bullets can explode the AA shells before they reach you. If your plane gets damaged, consider your position carefully. You may want to return to fight another day, as there are so few planes available in this sector. They are a precious resource. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Lover's Leap Direction : North Distance : 3 miles Difficulty : 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The aliens have confused us again. During the night they have erected some kind of new apparatus. They have set up a force field and generator, but also some kind of strange small blue octangonaloid. We saw a saucer fly through it, our eggheads became very excited. Anyway, what we need is a volunteer to fly through it. The scientists claim it will not kill you instantly (Thanks a lot, guys), but how they can tell from here, I don't know. Behind the experimental grid is a regular force field, there may not be enough room to pull away from that force field after getting through the grid, but your plane should survive well enough to get back to base so we can analyze your plane. Also, note your altitude before you go in, the men in the white coats want to know every detail. No shooting is necessary in this mission. Just fly in slowly with your flaps engaged, and try to get the plane to fly through the small blue rectangle, then turn and come back to base. The target looks like a small sky-blue rectangle with shorn corners. It is suspended at a low altitude (maybe 500ft) in front of a large force field. Approach from the south, heading due north. Use the two grounded tets on the ground as cues to help you line up. You might want to use the flaps to slow your air speed to give you more maneuverability. Keep your nose pointed slightly above the target, or you'll find yourself too low at the last minute. Your secondary mission objective is to kill the generator orb which powers the force field. You might want to save this for later on when you have more skill taking out ground targets. These secondary missions must be completed before claiming a theater complete. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Apple Pie Direction : East Distance : 4 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's a chance to catch the buggers with their pants down. As we speak, our spherical friends are trying to get a new structure set up to the east of us. So far all they have managed to string together is two orbs in tandem, and one misplaced force field. By the time the ground forces could get there, they may well have had a change to get some formidable defenses together, so it's up to us. The orbs are undefended, and mounted on the ground. Watch your altitude when attacking ground targets, it is by far the most common cause of death for younger pilots. When the altitude warning light comes on, pull up hard! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nearby airstrips with more missions ------------------------------------------------------------------------ North: Valmart Airstrip and Family Value Center East: RDU ^international Airport South: Easter Island Municipal Air Travel Center ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------- Valmart Airstrip and Family Value Center ---------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Birds of Prey Direction : East Distance : 10 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This will be perhaps your first experience with KLA's. A KLA is a Kinetic Locking Antiaircraft Missile Defense, with the MD dropped for brevity. ( Also called 'Kevin's Little Angels after Kevin McDoodle, the first pilot to be blown out of the sky by one. ) KLA's are simplistic enemy smart missiles which lock on to your tail. When the get a lock on you, they light their afterburners at come at you at full speed. When a KLA is locked, you can tell because the outside color of the whole missile flashes. Your onboard radar system tracks them ( The display will represent them as light green dots) Anyway, to the east is an orb with two missile sights mounted on a light purple platform. Intelligence indicates that these KLA sites are an older model, and you should be able to out maneuver them easily. The sites look like small rings, suspended not far above the platform. Your primary mission is to take out these sites. They quite hardened, so be prepared to make many passes using guns and missiles. Your secondary mission is to take out the orb. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Patty Cake Maker Direction : North Distance : 10 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Intelligence has identified a possible site which is launching saucers. There is already at least one saucer in the vicinity, and as their numbers multiply, our airfields are in graver danger. Your mission is to destroy this saucer site. A saucer site looks like a shallow square pan with an 'X' in the bottom. As with other sites it is reasonable tough. This particular site is suspended over an orb on a small platform. There are two AAA batteries there to protect it. First take out the site, unless it looks like the saucer may be heading our way. Once the site is gone, then clean up an saucers left in the air. Of course the orb is an optional secondary target. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mission Code Name : Kuwait's Revenge Direction : West Distance : 8 miles Difficulty : 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ These aliens have much to learn about defending their resources. To the west is fuel storage facility which seems to be unguarded. Unlike your other targets so far, these fuel dumps are located on the ground. The most important lesson for this CBM ( Confidence Building Mission) is to watch your altitude. Fuel dumps are spheres with girder structure around the perimeter. They blow fairly easily with a few missile hits. Your mission is to blow all their stored fuel to kingdom come. When your CMPLT light signifies the mission end, you should be leaving behind a nice collection of smoking wreckage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
