Some frequently asked questions regarding the Fellow Amiga Emulator: -------------------------------------------------------------------- (To be extended...., not much is covered here right now.) Q1: Not all documented graphics modes are available in the emulator, why? Q2: The emulator hangs when I enable sound! Q3: Why can't I insert "DMS"-files as disk-images? Q1: Not all documented graphics modes are available in the emulator, why? ------------------------------------------------------------------ A1: Possible reasons why modes were not found: - The linear-framebuffer capability is required, and not found. - Your VESA driver does not support the given mode. - The VESA driver does not support VBE V2.0 extensions. Make sure you have a VESA VBE V2.0 driver installed. SDD (Univbe) is a good one. Univbe can sometimes run in Vesa V1.2 mode unless it is started with some additional command-line switches. A log of the interaction with the VESA driver can be found in "fellow.log" when the emulator is started with the "-log" switch. Q2: The emulator hangs when I enable sound. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A2: This is a known problem with the emulator versus Soundblaster-clone cards (and maybe some real Soundblasters, too, judging from bug-reports). Current solution: Try using the emulator with sound disabled. Q3: Why can't I insert "DMS"-files as disk-images? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A3: Documentation for the DMS compression algorithm is unavailable. People have tried to get it with no luck.
