Accept Character as : When a questionable character is encountered, CAT Reader will box the character within the line of text and prompt for user input. a) Type in the correct letter, then press [Enter] : This allows users to append the attributes of the boxed characters onto the current font file and into the output ASCII file. b) Type in the correct letter, then press [Insert] : This option allows users to output the character to the ASCII file but WITHOUT saving the character attributes to the font file. This is a perfect way to handle badly scanned characters. F1 Reject Character Press [F1] to reject bad characters at the Interactive OCR Menu so that the attributes of the boxed character will not be added onto the current font file. In the ASCII text file, this character will be replaced by the unsure flag (_) defined at the OCR Menu. F2 Ignore Character Press [F2] to ignore badly scanned characters or noise so that the attributes of the characters will not be saved into the current font file nor will be output to the ASCII file. F3 Next Line Press [F3] to skip to the beginning of the next line of text. This function is used when the whole line of characters is badly scanned or when 2 lines of text are isolated together due to skewing or noise. F4 Previous Screen Press [F4] to flip back to the OCR Status Screen. F10 Save and Exit Press [F10] to save all the newly trained characters to the current font file. No output ASCII file is created. ESC Exit and return to Main Menu Press [ESC] to abandon the current OCR session, so that the partially recognized ASCII file and the newly trained characters will not be saved. You will be brought back to the Main Menu.
