          The Shareware system was designed to allow you the right to try
   software.  When you purchase a Shareware disk you are paying a copy and
   distribution charge, you are not paying for the software.  To keep this
   system alive you must consider registering the programs you use.

          When you register a Shareware program you will most often receive
   additional benefits from the author.  These benefits differ from author
   to author and come in various forms ranging from enhanced versions to
   printed documentation and more.

          Author name and address information can always be found on the
   disk.  Again, please register what you use.

        All Shareware documentation and text files will have the following
  file extensions:  .doc   .txt   and   .prn   There are several methods
  used for viewing or printing these files.   If you do not have a utility
  which allows you to view the files on screen, we would suggest using the
  following:

  To View On Screen:    Type (filename.ext) [Press ENTER]

        To stop the screen from scrolling hold down the CTRL key and the
  NUMLOCK key.  Press any key to continue.

  To Print:             Copy (filename.ext) Prn [Press ENTER]
                                        or
                        Print (filename.ext) [Press ENTER]

        Be sure your printer is on before entering this command.

        There are specific DOS commands which you should familiarize
  yourself with.  If you spend the time to learn these basic commands you
  will find that using our shareware disks and other programs will become
  easier.  The following commands will be of great value:

                        COPY                DISKCOPY
                        FORMAT              DIR
                        PRINT               TYPE

        We have included a file with this disk called TSS.HLP. This file gives
  you a complete description of each command we suggest you print it.  This
  report will also detail the various compression utilities.

        Please spend some time understanding DOS before attempting to call

        The Simple Series takes great pride in offering you the simplest
  method for using Shareware.  For this reason we have standardized where
  possible, the compression methods used on our disks.

        What is Compression?

        Because of the costs of distributing Shareware authors and vendors
  alike have had to find ways of minimizing costs.  Computer file
  compression refers to reducing file sizes so they take up less storage
  space on disk.  There are several utilities on the market that will
  perform compression on files, they are: PKZIP, ARC, PAK, LHARC, etc.

        The Simple Series has standardized its library using PKZIP and
  PKUNZIP (decompression utility) as the product of choice.  We have done
  this simply to make it easier on you are valued customer.

        If the file on your disk has the extension .ZIP we have provided
  PKUNZIP which will decompress that file.  To accomplish decompression
  use the following commands:

     PKUNZIP zipfile [d:path\] [file...]
        1.) PKUNZIP - is the program that performs decompression.

        2.) zipfile - is the name of the file you want decompressed.

        3.) [d:path\] - the destination or where you want the extracted
                        files located.
                        (the default is the directory from where the
                         program was started)

        4.) [file...] - selected files to be extracted.
                        (the default on this is *.* or all files)

        Instructions for running your programs will always be supplied in
   the documentation that is supplied on disk.  However, to run most
   programs you need simply to look for files with the following extensions:
   .BAT   .EXE   .COM.  These are the most common extensions and will
   indicate that the file is an executable file.  To run one of these
   programs just type the filename and then press enter.

        To find what files are on the disk issue the command DIR, then
   look for the executable extensions.

        Once you have found a file with an executable file extension
   type that filename and then press ENTER and you should be on your way.

        Again, please take the time to read the instructions supplied with
   the disk.   Important instructions can always be found.
