the character screen: this screen is the main source of information about a charac- ter. it is accessed by clicking on one of the charac- ter portraits located at the bottom of the screen. in the upper left-hand corner is the character portrait. directly below this portrait is the character's backpack or inventory. to the right of the portrait are the contents of the left and right hands. beside the hands are the pool gold and drop item icons. below it is a diagram of a body with many boxes situated in key spots. a page- flip icon is in the lower right- hand corner. backpack: there are twelve item lines directly below the character picture. these are storage places for items that a charac- ter is neither holding nor wearing. All items occupy one space except for missle ammo (they can be piled on top of each other). items can be moved by selecting an item and clicking on an empty box. To move items among characters, select an item and then select one of the portraits located on the bottom of the screen. A new screen will appear that represents the character selected. you can now select an empty box and the item will appear in that area. hands: if an item is within one of these boxes, that item is currently ready for use. weapons and shields must be in a characters' hand to be used. pooling and dropping: pooling gold is the movement of all characters' gold to one character. the character who is receiving the gold is the character who is currently displayed. dropping an item will perman- ently remove the item from the characters'possession. Note that this action is irreversible. select an item by clicking on the box that the item occupies, then select the drop icon. a yes/no confirmation box will appear. diagram: boxes surround a diagram of the body. moving an item to one of these boxes will put that item on that specific area. for example, put the helmet in the box that points to the head. page flip: the next page of the character screen shows all of the stats of the character. while viewing these stats, click on the portrait to return to the game play screen or the page flip icon to return to the item area.
