1) Installation Quick Reference: The following is a brief document that describes the installation process and the game requirements. For more detailed information, please see the appropriate sections in the manual. 2) Play by Play Install Options: The game has four different Play by Play install options. In order to conserve hard disk space you may choose 'None' but you will not have any Play by Play commentary during the game. Alternatively choosing 'Minimum' or 'Recommended' will give you more Play by Play at the cost of disk space. Finally choosing 'Maximum' will give you the most play by play. You will need to have approximately an addition 2.5 Mbs of free hard drive space if you wish to have a Play by Play instlalation. 3) Game Install Options: While the Play by Play install options give the user more or less capability, the three game install options, 'Minimum', 'Recommended', and 'Maximum' all provide the same features but attempt to balance hard disk usage with speed. Depending on the amount of free space that is available, you will have to decide which one to install. If a particular install requires more disk space than is available on the selected drive, it will appear in red. It should be noted that if you are using file compression software, or are installing over a previous install, there may be enough drive space for a particular installation, as the file sizes will be incorrect. Upon entering the install screen, a default path for the installation will be selected for you. You can then type in a different path if you like. However, it is important that the path be valid. You can have a maximum of eight characters in a directory name, with at most three characters for the extension. If the directory that you choose does not exist, it will create one for you. However, at most only one directory will be created. For example, if you decide to install to 'C:\GAMES\TPLAY' but no GAMES directory exists, you will get an error message. 4) Sound Card Options: The first time that you enter the installation program, your sound card is autodetected and highlighted in yellow. This should be correct for almost all sound cards. However, if the sound does not appear to be working correctly, you may choose to select another sound card. This would probably indicate a problem with your current environment variable settings. A button at the bottom of the screen allows you to test the current selection. 5) Game Requirements: Triple Play '97 requires a local bus video card, VESA SVGA compatible, capable of 640x480 resolution with 256 colors. The minimum memory requirements are 450 Kb of conventional RAM and 6,950 Kb of extended memory. 6) Alternate Keyboard Controls: Triple Play '97 for ease of use, has a number of alternate keyboard assignments. Make sure to install your Gravis GrIP software provided in your Gravis GrIP package for Win95 as a first step. The second step is to click onto the "START" button in the lower left corner of your windows screen. Next, go into the "Settings" and then into your "Control Panel". Now go click the "System" icon and select "Device Manager" under "System Properties". Under "Sound, video and game controllers", the "Gameport Joystick" should appear with a yellow exclamation mark on it. (This means that there is an error with your gameport). Click on "Gameport Joystick" and then onto "Resources" in the menu. Uncheck the "Use automatic settings" and at the "Setting based on" dialogue box, change "Basic Configuration 1" to "Basic Configuration 0". Now follow the instructions and prompts and the system should ask you to Reboot and continue from there. 9) Speed of Gameplay: Playing in hi rez on a slower machine will cause the framerate of the game to go below gameplay minimum requirements. Although you can still play the game, playing below framerate minimum will often cause additional player errors in the game. Some suggestions on increasing gameplay speed are: Experiment with different camera angles or switching to the locked cameras, switch to a lower resolution, or try turning off certain details. 10) All Star Game Rosters: In Triple Play 97, we have decided to include the All Star Team lineup from this year's 1996 All-Star competition. The National and American League lineups were determined by fan vote, and are not affected by the injuries that adjusted this year's contest. 11) Tie Breaker Determination for Playoffs: The manual states that if there is a tie for a playoff spot, it is determined that the team with the most hits in the season will claim that spot. In order to closely reflect MLB rulings, both teams will play a tie breaker game, and the winner will go to the playoffs. 12) Save Games: Each Season, Series, Playoff etc. game that you save takes up space on your hard drive. You will need uapproximately up to 2.5 MBS on your hard drive with the maximum number of games, and custom players stored.
